I’ve been thinking about the Santa conversation for a while but knew I wanted to save it for the least fragile time. So, Happy Christmas in July! Let’s talk about Santa.
This seems to be a conversation that always incites high emotions and feelings. And why wouldn’t it? If you grew up celebrating Santa, you may have fond memories and don’t want to be told there’s anything wrong with that. You might not be doing Santa and don’t want to hear how you’re depriving your kids of some magical holiday experience.
I’ll tell you where we’ve landed on the topic and why, but first, I want to say that this isn’t a first-tier issue. It’s ok if we disagree on this. It’s not written in the Bible, and there can be nuance. Our church talks about how there are issues we will talk about, issues we will fight for, and issues we will die for.
I’m not about to die on this hill, but I hope it’s helpful to share if you haven’t considered these thoughts before.
The whole hope with our Monday Questions is that you’ll ask God hard questions, seek His response and be ready to obey. So I hope as I share my perspective and the conclusions we’ve come to for our family, that you won’t take it as gospel, but you’ll take it to the Lord.
Let’s dive in!
