Where is the battleground?

Have you tried to swat a mosquito without knowing where it is but you know it’s there?

You have no aim.
You have no power.
You aren’t swinging with full strength.
You likely aren’t swinging at all.

Or you are swinging, and you look ridiculous.

Why? Because you kinda need to know where it is to try to attack it.

In this series, we’ve laid the groundwork and recognized that we’ve an enemy, which is like knowing there is a mosquito out there. But in today’s post, we’re going to get clearer on where he is. It’s the only way to knock him out effectively.

And though it might be obvious in terms of swatting at mosquitoes, we attempt to do it all the time with our enemy. We toss out vague words about how the enemy is attacking us, but so rarely identify the specifics so that we can actually respond.

All talk. No action.

Just lots of complaining about this invisible enemy, but not taking ownership that we aren’t exactly helpless either.

And before we dive in, I’ll just say, he likely lurks in all kinds of areas of our life trying to trip us up. But we know there are areas where he’s more prevalent. Maybe he’s had a victory or two and know where we are weakest. These are the areas we’ll focus on so we can be armed and ready next time he comes. I always say:

I want to make the devil regret picking on me.

I want him to feel stupid, like all his effort to sink his teeth in me only results in more praise of God coming from my lips.

So today, I want to share a few things:

  1. We’ll walk through ten battleground areas that Priscilla Shirer shared on the enemy’s plan against us. In her book Fervent (which I highly recommend), she starts each area off with an “If I were your enemy,” which reminds me so much of Screwtape Letters and is soo powerful to see things from a different perspective.

  2. We’ll examine 10 slant battlegrounds that may not initially appear to be actual battlegrounds.

  3. The four times we’re the most vulnerable.

  4. I’ll share my three battleground areas that God revealed to me as I prayed about this question this week. Surprise, surprise. What God revealed was way more than what I assumed was the answer. (This is why we really pray!)

Our goal is to pray and ask God to reveal three specific areas of concern in this particular season of life. Next week, we’re going to create our battle plan, but this is important to figure out first.
