As I type this comment on my phone, it makes me realize how much I need the “Unplugged” book! I could read it while my candle adds an autumn scent to the atmosphere!
Mallory, I don’t know if you will see this, but there is a small group of women who study God’s Word together in Iowa (aka prayer warriors) and are praying for those of you in the wake of the hurricane. May you clearly see God’s hand at work and feel His loving arms around you.
Thanks Val, for this delightful potpourri of thoughts today. I have been blessed!
I’ve done reading a proverb a day before but love the idea of choosing a verse to pray!!! I bought a bunch of the signature journals for future years after my 2025 rhythms but love your idea of using a verse from proverbs to journal and pray about with those pages.
Thanks for the Proverbs challenge! I definitely find it easier to spout out emergency prayers and thinking only of things on fire rather than praise, thankfulness, or verses to do with sanctification.
Decades ago, I picked up a spiral bound booklet at a homeschool conference.
Praying Down the Path of Your Child's Life: Devotional Prayers from Proverbs
by Tom Bishop. I see he has an updated version that includes Psalms available on Amazon as a kindle purchase. Looks like the format has changed a bit, but it's very similar. For example, Proverbs 4 says:
Cause our children to heed the instruction of their parents. 1
Show us how to transfer the things You have taught to our children. 4
Fill our children with wisdom and understanding. Make sure we lead them in the way of wisdom and down the right paths. 7, 11
Keep our children from entering the path of the wicked or following their evil ways. 14
Give them more and more light and revelation every day of their lives. 18
Release diving health within our children as they obey Your words. 22
Keep our children on the straight ad narrow path. Don't let them get deceived into the path of evil. 27
So on the fourth day of each month, this is our prayer each night. We insert their names instead of saying "our children"--in fact we now include our daughter-in-law's name too. :)
val, it’s been a “weird” time over here in east TN too…feeling so powerless with such devastation surrounding us. as always, thanks for sharing. i look forward to jumping in on your october proverbs challenge ♥️

I'm only a few chapters in but it's so good!

I love that you called it potpourri of thoughts Deb!!
I’ll be chewing on the thought of looking for the quiet things to pray for. Love that thought.
Thanks Jessica!
I am so happy October is finally here! I’ll be joining you in reading a chapter of Proverbs each day and looking forward to learning from you all.
Yay! Me too!

Oh nice Stephanie! Yea, it's honestly a great way to use the pages if you feel like it's too much!
Thanks for your encouragement and the Proverbs challenge :)
You're welcome Rose!

Love the encouragement about proverbs! I recently read Praying the Bible and loved it, but felt overwhelmed!
Oh nice! Funny enough, I did not appreciate that book at first. Thought it was overrated and then read it again and loved it!!!
Thank you for the encouragement to read and pray through Proverbs this month!
You're so welcome Beth!
The Proverbs daily reading is fantastic! We have a collection of prayers based on Proverbs that we pray over our kids each night. Such a blessing!
What?? That's awesome Connie! Did y'all make that or what's the resource?

Love the Proverbs challenge idea and think I’m going to try it! It sounds simple yet intentional and that is just what I need right now!
I know right? I feel like we already do that with Psalms in our Wednesday email but Proverbs are so different!
I love the idea of it being daily and lasting a month!
I love the idea of reading a chapter a day in Proverbs and choosing a verse to pray.
Try it! It's been so good! I just shared my prayers from yesterday and today on Instagram stories.

Deb left a comment for you above. ;)
Oh Mallory! How are you? What specific needs do y'all have that we can possibly help with? I'm praying so much for y'all.
