Who's the villain?

For many of us, when two celebrities start beefing, our protocol is orderly and direct: you pick a side. It's just what we do. My first memory of this was when the movie Twilight entered our vocabulary. You were either Team Edward or Team Jacob. There was no neutral territory. You either liked pale-faced glittery mystery guys, or you liked the tan athletic jocks. 1

This idea of picking sides fits right in with my very black-and-white personality. Things are either terrible and will destroy my existence, or they will be rainbows and unicorns of abundance. So, it's an easy choice, right?

What started as picking a side has grown though. Now, we need to pick the villain and the hero. Every story has one of each.

So, as the debate over who’s lying and who’s telling the truth in the current Blake Lively / Justin Baldoni matchup, we're again left asking:

Who's the villain?

And I think this is the wrong question to ask.
